COMPILE option does nothing (BBC4SDL)

Post by Flatlander »

(BBC4SDL 141b on M1 Mac)

No Create Application Bundle dialog pops up when I select it from the Utilities menu (or the cogs icon) when a valid program is entered.

(It is no longer greyed-out, but nothing happens when I select it.)

I thought my 141a installation was somehow corrupted but this also happens in a fresh 141b installation.

Thank you.

Can you confirm that you are running the pre-compiled x86 version (under Rosetta 2 emulation), downloaded from the BBC BASIC website? What you describe sounds very much like what can happen if you try to build it yourself from the source files.

If you are running the binary version downloaded from the website, do the other programs in the Utilities menu work (crossref, searchin, memmon etc.), or is it just 'Compile' that doesn't work?

Solved, sorry.
I waited over a week before posting because I knew it was highly likely I was doing something stupid!

I think I had two conflicting versions running/installed or something. I’m not really sure.
I deleted both apps (one in Applications folder, one elsewhere) and stared again from the .dmg download, and now it works fine.

Thank you.
