http://www.bbcbasic.co.uk/forum/

If you are looking for technical support, here are your main options:

#1 Discussion Group

#2 Forum / Message Board

In #1 I can easily navigate to the catagory I want to look in to. #2 have more much activity but not easy to find a specific subject.

Why two different areas?
BBC Model B - 1984-1989. 6502 assembler, Unicomal 1988-1994, Some C and C++, Pascal 1990-1994. Bought a copy of BBC-BASIC 2007, but started to program at a daily basis 2019. C++ in 2021.

Hi Ivan,

There are several factors. One is that different types of forum/site offer different resources. This forum makes it easy to post code blocks, for example. The groups.io group apparently works mainly by email notification (though actually I prefer just to use the web version), which some people prefer, and has a files area.

Richard feels he is unwelcome (at least by some users) at this forum, and has decided not to post here. I think that's a shame, but of course it's his decision. He has added a "landing page" to offer people the choice of where to go more explicitly, though both fora have been running for some years. He is still (at present) providing support via the groups.io site, or users can email him directly, or via Facebook. One advantage of using a discussion site is that the comments may be useful to others.

Can I take this opportunity to encourage users of this site to keep an eye on the groups.io site as well, since that is where Richard is currently posting comments. I will copy/link any posts that I think are particularly significant (in particular, any updates to BB4W or BBCSDL), but I won't link everything.

Best wishes,

D

Hi DDRM,

No one will or have 100% support and I really hope Richard will come back.

Not many have direct access to the "guru" of a language.

Regards

Ivan

May I just remind people that if ever this forum should cease to exist, there is always https://bbcbasic.freeforums.net which was set up when Richard previously called the existence of this one into question. At present there are very few posts there, but it has the same potential as this forum does. (Unfortunately I have not found a way to transfer posts from this forum to that, so it would very much be starting with a clean slate.)

I think still it's better to get the focus on just one platform to provide 100% help for the ones who need it.
