Just to clear up a small point here, I am the maintainer of Matrix Brandy, which is a fork built upon the extensive work that came before me by Dave Daniels. If I were to attempt write it from scratch, I wouldn't know where to begin! There is still lots I am learning today about its internals, especially when I attempt to add missing functionality or attempt to fix a bug. I am by no means a C expert.
